Camden Clog Workshop Day - 23rd March 2019This year there will be four workshops in the East Lancashire style.
- Beginners - Lancashire Irish
This routine comes from the parties of the Smiths, an Irish family who lived in Nelson. Dancing began after the carpet had been rolled back, clogs were on and a double jig was played. The tutor will be Jo Evans.
- Improvers - Regents Park Hornpipe
An introduction to the East Lancashire Hornpipe style. This dance is a regular part of Camden Clog's current repertoire. The first step is danced in two concentric circles, hence the name.
- Intermediate - Waltz
A versatile dance that Camden Clog have choreographed for as few as two and as many as seven dancers. Sometimes known as Michael Turner's Waltz because of the tune we use. The tutor will be Janice Dickson.
- Advanced - Slow Hornpipe
"Slow" refers to the relaxed pace of the tune. The intricate stepping makes the dance feel much faster than it really is.
The cost of a workshop when booked in advance will be £25 (£20 concessions).
Bookings for the Workshop Day can be made through the Cecil Sharp House website. Click here to be transferred to the Bookings page.
If you have any problems with the booking system please contact Camden Clog at  firstname.lastname@example.org.
If paying on the day the cost will be £30 (£25 concessions). We cannot guarantee the availability of workshops if not booked in advance.
Workshops start at 10am and the day finishes at about 5pm.
We do have a small number of clogs for loan if you are in the beginners workshop. If you do not have clogs, hard-soled shoes will work. Anything but trainers.
Booklets describing the dances being taught this year, and many other Pat Tracey dances, will be available for purchase.
Simon Brock will be with us with his range of clogs and leather goods.
The cafe in the basement of Cecil Sharp House will be open throughout the day. Sorry, but the cost of refreshments and lunch is not included in the workshop ticket price.
